Rannoch Park/ Flood Relief Channel

Further information specific to the flood defences proposed along the north side of the flood relief channel through Rannoch Park
There is a very narrow corridor between the flood relief channel and Rannoch Road. The alignment of flood defences is severely restricted and unfortunately this will result in the loss of trees along the south side of Rannoch Road. It is not possible to retain these trees because of damage which would be caused to the tree roots. The vast majority of the trees are already in poor condition and/ or affected by Ash Dieback disease and would require to be removed. However, once the flood defences are constructed around 60 new trees will be planted along the banks of the flood relief channel.
